Working in partnership with BAM Construction and hub West Scotland, Arc-Tech has delivered a turnkey Mechanical and Electrical services solution to support the delivery of a new, acute mental health facility at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow.
Located just north of Glasgow city centre, the hospital is operated by NHS Greater Glasgow and City (NHSGGC) and the £11m project is set to provide some of the most enhanced services in Scotland for those with functional mental health issues.
Built across two new-build blocks, the internal configuration has been designed as open-plan, conveniently designed around a series of enclosed courtyards aimed at providing outside, yet private, space for patients. A new ward, alongside a series of specialist adult in-patient and wellbeing services, has been set up alongside office and meeting space for staff and visitors.
The mental health facility is the second contract to have been undertaken by Arc-Tech on behalf of the NHS having previously worked with NHS Forth Valley whilst further experience was gathered working with the St Andrew’s Hospice and the refurbishment of their palliative health facility in Airdrie.
The list of services that were installed at Stobhill Hospital includes:
In the installation of corridor and plant room services, Arc-Tech also utilised BIM to design innovative prefabricated modules that were then installed on-site, generating programme savings and ensuring of enhanced quality in the support of the construction programme.
Since the project’s completion in late-2020, Arc-Tech has been announced as one of only two companies in Scotland as a Category 1 sub-contractor for BAM Construction enabling the delivery of contracts up to £10m in value.
