The Scottish Design Awards, established in 1998, are one of the country’s most prestigious and long-standing award bodies that shine a “spotlight on countless brilliant projects, exceptional designs, and extraordinary talents of the very best in Scottish design, architecture, and creativity.”
Arc-Tech (Scotland) had several projects nominated, with Lost Shore Surf Resort scooping the GOLD Design Innovation Award at the awards ceremony earlier his week [Wednesday 25/07] alongside a double award win for Maltings Wynd, a residential development in north Glasgow.
Lost Shore Surf Resort opened its doors in 2024, and since then, it has become one of Scotland’s premier tourist destinations. The 60-acre resort is home to Europe’s largest wave pool as well as a range of food and retail premises, 31 luxury lodges and 22 camping pods, SurfSkate – an increasingly popular variation of skateboarding which replicates the experience of surfing a wave in the ocean, on dry land – and wellness treatments.
Arc-Tech supported its delivery through a £6m Mechanical & Electrical Services package on behalf of Malcolm Group. Among those installed is an innovative, air-source heat pump farm – comprising 3, industrial-scale pumps and a water storage and booster system housed within a specially-designed plantroom, solar PV panels, and 41 EV charging points.
The pioneering project was granted the win for the HUB buildings that are located around the resort, and everyone at Arc-Tech extends our congratulations to Oberlanders Architects for receiving this prestigious accolade.
Lost Shore was joined by Maltings Wynd, which was the winner of the Residential (Multi-Unit) and Client of the Year (Architecture) awards. The 78-home project was supported by Arc-Tech’s in-house Sprinklers division, with the installation of services undertaken on behalf of the main contractor, CCG (Scotland), for the principal client, igloo Regeneration.
A second residential development, Water Row, supported by Arc-Tech’s Renewables and Sprinklers divisions, was also the winner of a SILVER award for Affordable Housing.
