Case Studies

Arc-Tech (Scotland) Ltd has completed the installation of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services to a stunning care home for visually impaired older people and an activity centre for veterans with sight loss. The £2.8m contract was undertaken on behalf of Scotland’s largest sight loss charity, Royal Blind, and its sister charity for visually impaired veterans, Scottish War Blinded.

The veteran’s activity hub, the Hawkhead Centre, located where Hawkhead Road and Barrhead Road meet in Paisley, takes influence from the street name and the design of military aircraft with a stunning roof shaped like the wings of a fighter jet. The facility is fully accessible and has been designed so that Scottish War Blinded’s members find it easy to remember and navigate and is home to a sports hall as well as various activity rooms and office space for staff.

Royal Blind’s 54-bed care home, Jenny’s Well, is located to the north of the site and has been built to maximise the extent of woodland on the site to promote comfort and seclusion for the residents.  Designed to be a ‘home-from-home’, the specialist facility reaches two storeys and is spread across four inter-connected pavilions which has a sensory garden at its core.

Arc-Tech commenced works on site in September 2016 undertaking a full turnkey solution that included:
